Hornbeam Hedge Plants – These hardy, fast-growing plants feature deeply veined green leaves that turn golden yellow in autumn and fade to pale brown in winter, often remaining on the plant until new spring growth emerges. Best planted in full sun or partial shade
Suitable for most soil types, including clay and heavy soils
Space 1–2 plants per metre depending on the desired density
Dig a hole twice the width of the pot, remove the plant, and tease out roots
Backfill, firm in gently, and water well
Mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds
Trim lightly after planting to encourage bushy growth, then prune annually to maintain shape
With reliable growth, resilience to wind and cold, and attractive seasonal colour, these Hornbeam hedging trees are a top choice for long-lasting garden boundaries and landscape projects.
